In this session we will examine the tax frameworks for relocating to Spain. In addition to an overview of the main features of Spanish income and wealth tax, various structuring approaches as well as the application requirements and advantages of the special Spanish regime colloquially referred to as “Lex Beckham” will be discussed.

Our speakers:

Dr. Christian Kahlenberg, LL.M. is a partner at Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s Berlin office. He advises owner-managed enterprises and their shareholders, founders and investors, high-net-worth individuals and family businesses on international tax law (financing and cross-border corporate structures as well as the taxation of international transactions)  in connection with relocations, private wealth structuring (including holding structures), reorganizations and global mobility.

Diego D’Alma is a partner at Garrigues in Malaga. As a Spanish lawyer, native of Hamburg and partner in the tax law department at Garrigues, he specialises in advising on international tax law for family businesses and private asset structures on cross-border investments and real estate tax law. He focuses on the recent developments and practical aspects of the special “Lex Beckham” regime, specialises on tax residence under Spanish law and Spain’s gift and inheritance tax. Further, he headed the tax department in the Shanghai office of Garrigues for more than a decade, advising on the tax aspects of foreign investment in China.
