Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s office in Düsseldorf is to welcome a new addition in August: Markus Suchanek (46), who will be coming from Warth & Klein Grant Thornton to join the team as an Of Counsel.

A specialist in business taxation, Markus Suchanek advises companies of all sizes and legal forms on tax matters in transactions and reorganizations. He also represents clients in tax audits, administrative appeals, and tax litigation. In addition to his work with clients, he is a co-editor of a soon-to-be-published commentary on the German Trade Tax Act, a commentator in the Herrmann/Heuer/Raupach series on income tax law and corporate income tax law, a regular speaker at sector events, and a guest lecturer at the Federal Academy of Finance.

Suchanek began his career in tax consulting in 1999, following a stint at the German tax authorities. In 2010 he joined the management team of the taxation division at Warth & Klein Grant Thornton, where he subsequently headed the corporate taxes department.

Suchanek is the second lateral entrant to join Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s Düsseldorf office, which opened in early 2018. He follows transfer pricing expert Dr. Michael Puls, who came to Flick Gocke Schaumburg from Deloitte in February.

“Our new office in Düsseldorf is developing extremely well,” reports Prof. Thomas Rödder, Chairman of Flick Gocke Schaumburg. “We are delighted to welcome Markus Suchanek, another renowned tax law expert, to the team.”

“Flick Gocke Schaumburg is already an established presence in Düsseldorf,” states Suchanek. “I’m excited about this new opportunity to contribute my expertise as the team continues to grow.”

Flick Gocke Schaumburg’s Düsseldorf office opened at the beginning of 2018 and works closely with the firm’s head office in Bonn. The Düsseldorf team advises clients on matters of tax law, business law, corporate law, succession, private wealth and foundations. Around 25 advisors are currently based in Düsseldorf. This number is set to double after the team relocates to new premises in mid-2019.
